There seems to be a universal law that all your weird traits become secret factors of your success once you make it.
Consider this:
James Potter was a troublemaker growing up--reeking havoc on Hogwarts and becoming the bane of Snape's existence. Being such a rule breaker lead James to sneaking around with his friends as "Misters Moony, Padfoot, Prongs, and Wormtail." They learned a staggering amount of illegal magic, plus devised the Maurader's Map.
Had they followed the status quo, none of this ever would have happened.
What I love is that this applies to real life, too. Here's how Steve Jobs is a perfect example and exactly what that means for you:
What's one way you're a bit of a James Potter? OR What traits do you have that set you apart but aren't always seen as wonderful?
I am willful. When I believe in something I stay with that idea--and when drastically don't believe in it I rebel. I am constantly learning to accept that there will always see this persistence as annoying. Just because your ideas don't mesh perfectly with the standard doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them--sometimes it means it's time to raise the standard.
So tell me, what are your James Potter/Steve Jobs traits? ↓ ↓ ↓
I love that you made this a Harry Potter reference! I never really considered myself much of a James, I'm too shy and bookish! I do think I'm brave like him though, and certainly funny at times!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it--I thought of him as soon as I read about Jobs's prankster side... but then I find excuses for Potter references a lot, lol!
DeleteI lean towards shy, too, but I am not afraid to challenge the way things are done--I'd never put an explosive under a teacher's desk but I teach my kids to question the status quo. The way I see it the fun of research comes in when you can prove a point--or disprove one.
